About Bridgwater Chiropractic
A Chiropractor Who Left Vancouver for Winnipeg (and Doesn’t Regret It)
When people find out Dr. Anne Stacey moved to Winnipeg from Vancouver, they tend to ask the same question: Why? After more than a decade running her own practice in East Vancouver, with two small kids with limited family support nearby, and juggling long working hours and the high cost of living that came with being on the West Coast, she and her husband knew something had to change. Then COVID hit, and it clarified what mattered most: more time with family was something they wanted to prioritize.
In December 2021, Dr. Stacey and her family packed up and arrived in Winnipeg just before Christmas. In fact, the Christmas tree was the very first thing they set up. For the first time, their two boys had rooms of their own. They could walk to school. There were other kids and families on the street to play with, and both boys have since learned to play hockey, which is about as Winnipeg as it gets.
She will also tell you, without hesitation, that she often prefers the sub-zero temperatures and sunny skies over 10 months of grey drizzle.
Nearly 20 Years of Chiropractic Experience in a Brand New Clinic
Dr. Anne Stacey has been a chiropractor since 2006, when she graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in Toronto. Since then, she has practiced in Toronto, across southern Ontario, the Greater Vancouver Area, including East Vancouver before making Manitoba home. That is nearly two decades of clinical experience behind every patient interaction.
But when she moved to Manitoba, the practice itself could not come with her. For the first while, she covered practices for colleagues on maternity or other leaves, learning the nuances of practicing in Manitoba. During that time, she kept noticing something: the growing Bridgwater community had physiotherapists, massage therapists, walk in medical clinics, pharmacies, dentists, all within the neighborhood. But no chiropractor.
Through growing positive relationships within the health care community, she connected with the physiotherapists at Complete Physiotherapy in Bridgwater, and started Bridgwater Chiropractic in May 2024 out of a small room within their clinic space. For over a year, she continued to build relationships in the community while securing a lease, arranging funding with the WeMB, and overseeing the entire design-build process. By the time Bridgwater Chiropractic officially opened its doors to its brand new space in July 2025, she was already a familiar face in the neighbourhood.
What Makes a Visit to Bridgwater Chiropractic Different
From the beginning, Dr. Anne Stacey knew that building Bridgwater Chiropractic could not be only about creating a practice for herself. It also had to support the kind of balance she wanted in her personal and family life, while making room for a broader vision of care. That vision included building a clinic team with a shared approach: thoughtful, patient-centred chiropractic care that takes the whole person into account.
That vision began taking shape quickly. Shortly after Bridgwater Chiropractic opened, the clinic welcomed Dr. Bacy Jia to the clinical team. Dr. Jia grew up in South Winnipeg, attended the same chiropractic college as Dr. Stacey, and shares many of the same approaches to care. While each practitioner brings her own perspective and style, they work from the same foundation and collaborate closely, sharing care when needed to support patients well.
That team-based approach is part of what makes care at Bridgwater Chiropractic different. A first visit is not rushed. Appointments are about an hour long and include an in-depth review of health history, a discussion of the current concern, a thorough physical assessment, and a clear treatment plan. In many cases, treatment also begins that same day. Because while people often come in because of pain or discomfort, the team knows how important it is to start addressing that concern as early as possible within the care plan.
But the goal is not just to identify where it hurts. Dr. Stacey and Dr. Jia want to understand the whole person: how they move through daily life, what their routines look like, what demands are on their body, and how their symptoms are affecting the things they need and want to do. That could mean a parent with three kids under five and no time for the gym, an athlete trying to get back on the ice, or someone who has been living with pain for years and is no longer sure anything will help.
Patients describe this experience as unlike anything they have had before. One patient put it simply in a recent Google review: “She is the most thorough chiropractor I’ve ever seen. From the very first visit, it’s clear that she genuinely wants to help her clients and takes the time to get to know them in order to treat them safely and effectively.”
That kind of feedback matters. The reviews that mean the most to Dr. Stacey and her team are not just the five-star ratings, but the ones where patients say they finally felt heard, understood, and cared for as a whole person. Those are the moments that reflect the kind of clinic Bridgwater Chiropractic set out to build.
Family Chiropractic Care from Newborns to Grandparents
At Bridgwater Chiropractic, ongoing learning is an important part of providing good care. Drs. Stacey & Jia both value continuing education and look for opportunities to keep building their knowledge so they can serve patients well with care that is patient-centred and evidence informed. Dr. Anne Stacey has advanced training in prenatal and postpartum care, including the Webster Technique and ICPA pediatric certifications. She also became a certified babywearing educator, inspired by her own experience as a new mom in Vancouver with little support nearby and a baby who refused to be put down. When patients began asking questions about carriers and wraps, she wanted to make sure she could offer informed guidance. Dr. Bacy Jia is also trained in the GLA:D Canada rehab program, which focuses on education and exercise to help older adults feel and move better in everyday life. She is also continuing to expand her skills and plans to complete her acupuncture training over the next few years.
One family recently started seeing Dr. Stacey for their baby daughter. After subsequent visits, they began to notice a clear improvement in their daughter’s mood and mobility. Before long, the whole family was under her care. As that family described it in their Google review: “She takes her time to carefully assess what’s going on and making adjustments. She also provides exercises through a free app that explains everything in an easy to understand way.”
Beyond care for these special populations, Drs. Stacey & Jia bring a wide range of techniques, including Active Release Technique, Diversified Chiropractic Technique, Activator Methods, Thompson Technique, Craniosacral therapy, Cold Laser Therapy, Flexion Distraction, and custom orthotics. The clinic also handles WCB and MPI claims.
A Clinic That Feels Like Another Home
Dr. Stacey says that one of the things she often hears from patients after they have been coming for a while is that Bridgwater Chiropractic feels like another home. Not just an appointment on the calendar, but a place where they feel comfortable, cared for, and genuinely listened to.
That feeling comes through clearly in Google reviews. One patient who came in after being recommended by their massage therapist described Dr. Stacey with: “She was absolutely wonderful. She took a lot of time to gain insight into my issues and did a very thorough assessment before any adjustments were done. Amazing first experience and I’ll be seeing her again to continue my journey.”
Another patient, visiting a chiropractor for the very first time, shared a glowing review that said: “She is incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and made me feel completely comfortable sharing my longstanding health history. I never thought I’d be this excited for my upcoming treatments, but after meeting Dr. Stacey and planning the next steps together, I truly am.”
With a perfect 5.0 rating on Google across 60+ reviews, these are not isolated experiences. They reflect the kind of care Bridgwater Chiropractic aims to provide every day: care that is thorough, personal, and grounded in trust.
Part of a Larger Health Community in Bridgwater
Another part of what makes Bridgwater Chiropractic work so well is its connection to the larger health community around it. A physiotherapist is three doors down. There is an acupuncturist, a dentist, a walk in clinic, and a pharmacy steps away. Both Dr Stacey and Dr. Jia work closely with these providers, and if a patient could benefit from another type of care, those referral funnels are already in place.
The Downhill Skier Who Chose Winnipeg Winters
Outside the clinic, Dr. Stacey admits that she is a downhill skier at heart. It was her favorite winter sport growing up in Nelson, BC, and every year she still “drags” her family out west to get them on a mountain. Her husband finds it amusing that she always looks to the very top of the mountain peaks from the ski lift and says, “I want to go up there.”
She also has learned how to cross country ski. Recently, while out at Winnipeg’s Windsor Park, skiing through the trees, and no mosquitoes in sight, she thought: this is amazing!
However, Dr. Stacey will be the first to admit she is a terrible skater, having only learned as an adult. But she will also tell you that being active is not about being good at something. It is about trying, staying mobile, and finding joy in it.
That outlook fits naturally with the way care is approached at Bridgwater Chiropractic: Move your body. Try your best. Find joy in what you do. And when you need help along the way, there is a place in Bridgwater where someone will actually take the time to listen.
